Georgia's banking sector is the 5th largest in frontier Europe and Central Asia (ECA), following that of Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan.
Bank of Georgia and TBC Bank, Georgia's banking giants, control an unprecedented combined 77% of the local market share, while 15 other banks have to contend with their total 23% share. This makes Georgia's banking sector by far the most concentrated among 10 countries in the ECA region.
